The Art Gallery of NSW is the leading museum of art in the state of New South Wales and one of Australia’s foremost cultural institutions. It holds significant collections of Australian, European and Asian art, and presents nearly 40 exhibitions annually. The Gallery has been a Biennale venue since 1976.

Artists exhibiting at the Art Gallery of NSW’s Embassy of Spirits explore the intersection between the spiritual and the philosophical, including works concerned with personal and religious rituals. Works presented at the Embassy of Spirits can also be considered in conversation with the Gallery’s rich collection of Asian and Indigenous Australian artworks.
