2006 Curator, Dr Charles Merewether Dr Charles Merewether is Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Cross Cultural Research, Australian National University. An art historian, he was Collections Curator at the Getty Center in Los Angeles 1994-2004.
Dr Merewether has taught at the University of Sydney, Australia; Universidad Autonoma, Barcelona; Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City; and University of Southern California. He was a Research Fellow at Yale University and, in 2003, Fellow at the Humanities Research Centre, Australian National University. He also received a Research Fellowship from the Japan Foundation.
Dr Merewether's most recent book is Conditions of Uncertainty. He is currently writing a book on the cultural history of looting, preparing an exhibition on post-war Japanese art (1951-1970) for the Getty Center in Los Angeles and is researching recent art in China.
