The Biennale of Sydney is seeking an Office Coordinator to be based primarily on Cockatoo Island in the lead up and during the 19th Biennale of Sydney exhibition. The Office Coordin ator is responsible for the efficient management of the Biennale site office administrative systems, in cluding logistics, Work Health and Safety (WH&S), timesheet control and communications. The Biennale of Sydney is a non-profit organisation that presents Australiaʼs largest and most exciting contemporary visual arts event. Held every two years, the Biennale presents a th ree-month exhibition, with an accompanying program of artist talks, forums, guided tours and family days – all FREE to the public.
The Biennale of Sydney was the first biennale to be established in the Asia-Pacifi c region and, alongside the Venice and São Paulo biennales and documenta, is one of the long est running exhibitions of its kind.
The Office Coordinator is part of the Biennale team of highly motivated specialist staff and plays a key role in the organisation. The role requires good organisation and time management skills, a warm personality and good people skills. Overall, a flexible approach to duties and tasks is required as well as a positive attitude. The successful candidate must possess the capacity to work autonomously in a busy environment.
The position is responsible for controlling the financial aspects of the site office, including cash management and obtaining tax invoices and receipts for all disbursements.
The position requires a high level of attention to detail to ensure reports, registers and financial matters are accurate and tasks are performed efficiently.
The Office Coordinator reports to the Head of Finance and Administrtion and works closely with the Technical and Production Manager, Exhibition and Venue Manager, Venue Coor dinator/s, Accountant, casual staff and volunteers.
This is a full-time contract position relating to the 19th Biennale of Sydney, from 6 January – 20 June 2014. A Salary of $48,500–$51,000 p.a. excluding 9.5% employer’s superannuation contribution is to be discussed with potential candidates.
