FAQS ABOUT THE BIENNALE FERRY
Who can travel on the Biennale Ferry for free?
The Biennale Ferry is free for children 16 and under, booked school groups and priority access groups, but a valid ticket is still required. All other passengers can purchase a return ticket online for $7 or travel on Harbour City Ferries services.

Where can I find the Biennale Ferry timetable?
Ferry departure times vary according to the day of travel. You can view and select from available departures once you select your preferred day of travel from our website. Departure times from Cockatoo Island are also listed on your PDF ticket and email confirmation.

My ticket confirmation has not arrived. What do I do?
All tickets are sent via email. Please check your inbox and spam inbox.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Your ticket is required for boarding the Biennale Ferry. Please bring your ticket with you on the day of travel; either on your phone or as a printed ticket.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time to allow for boarding. If you miss your booked departure time, you will need to queue for the next available departure.
The name on the registration/ticket doesn’t match the attendee. Is that okay?
Yes; as long as a valid ticket is presented at the boarding area, the ticket holder will be able to board the Biennale Ferry.
Each ticket has a unique barcode and will only scan once. Please do not share your tickets. Should a ticket show up as already scanned at the ferry departure point, you will be required to purchase a new ticket.
I printed my ticket but have lost it in a public place. What should I do?
A printed ticket is the equivalent of cash, so please keep it safe. Should a ticket show up as already scanned at the ferry departure point, you will be required to purchase a new ticket.
What do I need to purchase a ticket/s?
You will need your name and email address. Payments are accepted by all credit cards.
Can I change my ticket date or time?
Travel dates and times can be changed up to 4 pm prior to the day of travel. Please contact the Biennale of Sydney via email on ferry[at]biennaleofsydney.com.au or phone at +61 2 8484 8700.
What time should I arrive at Circular Quay to board the ferry?
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time to allow for boarding.

I don’t know what time I will depart from Cockatoo Island. What do I do?
All tickets are issued as ‘open-return tickets’, without a specified departure time from Cockatoo Island. To update to a ‘booked-return ticket’, with a specific departure time from Cockatoo Island, select from the options available following the payment process. Alternatively, you can select a departure time at a later date by using the link provided in your ticket confirmation.
Visitors with an open return time are requested to queue for the next available ferry on their day of travel.

I am camping overnight at Cockatoo Island. Can I use my ticket to depart from Cockatoo Island on the next day?
All Biennale Ferry tickets are issued for travel on the same day only. Please book an additional ticket for your return date.
I have also purchased a Biennale guide with my ticket. How do I collect my copy?
Please present your ticket at the Biennale Information Hub at Camber Wharf on Cockatoo Island to collect your Biennale Guide(s).
What is the refund policy?
All tickets purchased are non-refundable and non-transferable. This means we are unable to process refunds on tickets. You can view the terms and conditions of ticket sales here.
What are my transport/parking options getting to Circular Quay?
Circular Quay is easily accessible via public transport. For more information, visit transportnsw.info.
What can’t I bring on the Biennale Ferry and to Cockatoo Island?
The Biennale Ferry is unable to accommodate bicycles on-board. There are locations where bicycles can be secured at Wharf 6, or Circular Quay.
The following items are not permitted on Cockatoo Island: alcohol, portable BBQs, animals (except guide dogs).
